Venice Carnival Collection

Minotaur

The Minotaur, the Cretan monster, is lodged deep in European culture. For that reason, perhaps, few realize that this god with the head of a bull descends from the Moon God of Mesopotamia and is found among the ancient beliefs of every people. the symbol of virility, he is intent on attracting the attention of the Earth Mother, symbol of eternal womankind. That accounts for the tattooed muscular body, which makes in itself a carnival costume.
